In 2025, the 52nd edition of the Interpretation Courses will take place, marking the twentieth year of their presence in Litomyšl. This significant music education project, with a tradition spanning over half a century, offers an eleven-day interpretation course and a chamber music workshop for both individuals and chamber ensembles.

The courses are designed for students of conservatories, music high schools, and music academies, as well as talented students from elementary art schools (ZUŠ), their teachers, and musically educated amateurs. Thanks to the participation of top-tier educators – renowned soloists and predominantly professors from HAMU Prague, along with distinguished faculty from other prestigious music institutions – the courses provide high-level instruction and an inspiring environment for artistic growth.

Disciplines and Program

Each year, we organize interpretation courses focused on individual instruction, which participants can complement with chamber music or performance in a chamber string orchestra.
In 2025, we are opening six instrumental classes:

Violin | Viola | Cello | Double bass | Piano | Flute

Lessons are conducted in the format of open classes, allowing participants not only to receive direct instruction but also to gain inspiration by observing the lessons of others. The courses are structured to provide maximum artistic support, new impulses, and a space for sharing experiences.

Accompanying Program and Performance Opportunities

Participants can take part in creative workshops and other inspiring activities. Each year, the program includes evening concerts by faculty members and distinguished guests, including internationally renowned artists.
During the courses, participants have the opportunity to perform in public concerts, whether as soloists, in chamber ensembles, or in the chamber string orchestra. These concerts serve not only as a platform for presenting one’s artistry but also as a valuable opportunity to gain experience in public performance.

VENUE

The courses will take place in the classrooms of the Bedřich Smetana School of Music (address: Rektora Stříteského 194, 570 01 Litomyšl) and the club rooms of the Youth Home in Litomyšl – Higher Vocational School of Pedagogy and the Secondary School of Pedagogy in Litomyšl  (address: Youth Home of the Higher Vocational School of Pedagogy and the Secondary School of Education in Litomyšl, Strakovská 1071, 570 01 Litomyšl).

Courses

The courses begin with an afternoon arrival on Monday, 7 July 2025, and conclude with a morning departure on Friday, 18 July 2025.

Applications

Applications for the 2025 Interpretation Courses will be open from 1 March 2025 to 30 April 2025.

Payments

Course fees, as well as accommodation and meal payments, must be completed by 30 April 2025.
