Double bass
Is a graduate of the P. J. Vejvanovsky Conservatory in Kroměříž. During his studies at the conservatory he also studied conducting and composition. In 2003/2004 he completed a study stay at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris in the class of Prof. Jean-Paul Cele. He completed his studies in 2005 at HAMU in Prague under Prof. J. Hudec.
He is a laureate of the Conservatoire Competition, the International Double Bass Competition of F. Gregory in Kroměříž, the International Performance Competition “Moravian Autumn” in Brno, the International Musikwettbewerb Markneukirchen, the International Double Bass Competition of J. M. Sperger in Michaelstein and the International Performance Competition “Moravian Autumn” in Brno. In 2002, he was a laureate of the prestigious competition “Talent of the Year 2002” in Prague, when he performed the Concerto in F sharp minor by S. Koussevitzky accompanied by the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra in a live broadcast on ČRo 3 Vltava.
In 2003 he won an audition for the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra as Deputy Head of the Double Bass Group, where he has been working ever since.
He performs in solo recitals at home and abroad. As a soloist he has collaborated with many Czech and foreign orchestras. He is a sought-after chamber musician (Pavel Haas Quartet, Bennewitz Quartet, Zemlinsky Quartet, Shkamp Quartet, Martinů Quartet, Kocián Quartet, Baborák Ensemble, Belfiato Quintet, PhilHarmonia Octet, etc.).
In addition to the Czech Philharmonic, he is a member of the Prague Chamber Soloists and the Haydn Ensemble Prague. Since 2010, he has also been a member of the Czech Philharmonic Jazz Band.
Since 2003 he has been teaching at the Interpretation Courses in Litomyšl. In 2009-2015 he was a teacher at the International Conservatory in Prague.
