Michaela Štrausová

Graduated from the Conservatory (in the class of Prof. Nora Grumlíková) with an independent recital and a concert with the orchestra.

During her studies at the HAMU (in the class of her father, Prof. Ivan Štraus), she performed numerous concerts in the Czech Republic and abroad, live on TV and in a concert for Yehudi Menuhin on the occasion of his visit to Prague, recorded several radio films and regularly performed with the orchestra. She has premiered several Czech compositions, such as Geraldine Muchová’s Duo for Violin and Piano (2007), and the Violin Concerto No. 2 by the composer Aphrodite Katmeridu, which is dedicated to her.

For several years she was active as secretary of the Josef Suk Society, organizing meetings, moderating discussions with musical personalities, collaborating on CD releases and other popularization activities.

Currently she performs solo and especially in violin duo with her father.

She has been teaching for over twenty years – at the International School of Prague, where she also leads the school orchestra, and at the Jabloňová Elementary School in Liberec.

For more than fifteen years he has been lecturing on the history of Czech art for foreign visitors (ISP, IWAP, DSA).

For the nineteenth year she has been the “court moderator” of the Prague Film Orchestra.
