Marek Jerie

Studied first at the Prague Conservatory and then at the HAMU in Prague. He also gained experience at performance courses with famous cellists – Casals, Rostropovich and Navarro.

He is a member of the Guarneri Trio Prague, which in 2026 will celebrate its 40th anniversary in its original composition. He has performed with this ensemble or as a soloist in many important music centres (e.g. London’s Wigmore Hall, Prague’s Rudolfinum, Geneva, Vienna, Paris, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, etc.) and other important venues around the world.
Thanks to his efforts, neglected concertos of 18th century Czech cello literature, such as those by Josef Rejcha and Josef Fiala, have been rediscovered, performed, recorded and published. A number of contemporary composers, such as Thüring Bräm and Luboš Fišer, dedicated their works to him.

He has recorded many CDs with piano, guitar or orchestra and complete piano trios by Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Dvořák and others, as well as individual works by Czech composers such as Rejcha, Smetana, Suk and Fišer, which have been awarded many international prizes (Diapason d’ Or, CHOC, Le Monde de la Musique).

For 34 years he was professor of cello and chamber music at the Lucerne College of Music. He also teaches at the Interpretation Courses in Litomyšl, at the Mendelssohn Festival in Wengen, Switzerland, and is invited to various seminars.
