Magdalena Bílková Tůmová
Flute
Studied flute at the Prague Conservatory with Prof. Jan Hecl. She continued her studies in the class of doc. František Čech at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where she also studied chamber music with Prof. Lubomír Kostecký (member of the Smetana Quartet). She is a laureate of the Prague Spring International Music Competition 1974.
She was active in the vocal-instrumental group Linha Singers. She has made dozens of recordings for Czech Radio and the PANTON music label of compositions by S. Vorlová, P. Eben, I. Loudová, O. Mácha, Z. Lukáš, B. Martinů, J. V. Stamić, Ch. W. Gluck, V. Jírovec and others. He is currently engaged in chamber music in the ensembles Magistri and Syrinx.
Since 1970 he has been teaching at primary and secondary music schools in Prague. He has been teaching at the Interpreting Courses in Litomyšl (formerly in Bechyně) since 1990.
Her publishing activity is also interesting, which is included in many professional journals. Her teaching text “A Tale of Playing the Transverse Flute” was awarded the 1st prize in the Pedagogical Reading project in 1996 by the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic. In 2017 she received the Ministry of Culture Award for Lifetime Pedagogical, Methodological and Musical Activity. On the anniversary of the Year of Czech Music 2024, the methodological text “Talking about playing the transverse flute” was published and is available at www.notovna.cz.
