Leoš Čepický
Violin
Graduated from the Pardubice Conservatory under Prof. Ivan Straus. His professors at HAMU were Jiří Novák on violin and Antonín Kohout on chamber music (both members of the Smetana Quartet). In the International Jaroslav Kocian Violin Competition in Ústí nad Orlicí he won the 1st prize and the title of laureate. He also won prizes at the Václav Huml competitions in Zagreb and Gorizia. In 1994 he was a laureate of the International Beethoven Competition in Hradec nad Moravicí.
He frequently performs in recitals and concerts with orchestras at home and abroad.
On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of J. S. Bach’s death in 2000, he performed a complete set of his solo sonatas and partitas in concert, which he recorded on CD in 2002.
Leoš Čepický is the primary member of the Wihan Quartet, which was founded in 1985 at HAMU. It won the first prize at the Prague Spring Competition in 1988. In London they won 1st prize at the Yehudi Menuhin Quartet Competition in 1991 and became the quartet in residence for two years. After this victory, the Wihan Quartet went all over the world from the USA to New Zealand. The ensemble has recorded over 40 CDs. Among other things, the Wihans performed all 16 quartets of Ludwig van Beethoven from October 2008 to March 2009. The concerts have been recorded on CD and partly on DVD and released on the British Nimbus Alliance label. A unique recording of Niccolò Paganini’s 24 Caprices arranged for string quartet (arr. William Zinn) was released there in 2009.
Prof. Leoš Čepický has been teaching violin at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague since 2007. Since 2010 he has headed the Department of String Instruments and since 2023 he has also been the Vice Dean of Studies.
VÍT CHUDÝ, HOUSLE
studoval hru na housle na Konzervatoři v Pardubicích u Mgr. Dalibora Hlavy a následně na HAMU v Praze ve třídě prof. Jindřicha Pazdery. Studia si rozšířil v německém Výmaru na Hochschule für Musik Franze Liszta.
Jako sólista i jako člen komorních těles koncertně vystupoval v mnoha zemích (Polsko, Španělsko, Francie, Německo, Japonsko, Singapur, a další). Je členem a sólistou komorního souboru Barocco sempre giovane a souboru Escualo kvintet, se kterým provádí hudbu argentinského tanga a dílo Astora Piazzolly.
V letech 2016-2017 vyučoval na houslové škole Wolfgang Violin Studio v Singapuru. V současné době je pedagogem na Konzervatoři v Pardubicích.
