Bohuslav Mimra

Studied first at the P. J. Vejvanovský Conservatory in Kroměříž, then he entered the JAMU in Brno in the class of Prof. Jiří Trávníček. In 1970, he became a member of the East Bohemian Chamber Orchestra in Pardubice, and later also the principal of the East Bohemian String Quartet. From 1984 he worked in Prague, first in the Prague Chamber Orchestra without a conductor, then also in the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Suk Chamber Orchestra.

For many years Bohuslav Mimra was the headmaster of the Primary Art School in Česká Třebová (1991-2014), and he still works there as a teacher. Since 1983 he has been conducting the Jaroslav Kocian Chamber Orchestra. Under his leadership, the orchestra achieves a high level in the most demanding works of the world repertoire. The town of Letohrad awarded Bohuslav Mimra and the J. Kocian Chamber Orchestra the prestigious GRAND PRIX award for the best musical performance of the International Music Festival – Letohrad 2011.

Bohuslav Mimra is a long-established lecturer of the Interpretation Courses in Litomyšl (formerly Bechyně).
